This is the story of Acel Reynolds and Effie Hamblins courtship as written by her. "In the summer of 1922 Acel (Ace) Reynolds and I began a courtship which resulted in our marriage on December 29th of the same year. I will give a brief account of our meeting and ect. The fall when I was fifteen and was helping cook for the thrashing crews at my brother Obids ranch. Ace was among the crew. Obid introduced me to him. We were both just bashful kids and thought no more about it. But the following summer we met at dances and both loved dancing together. He took me home a few times after the dances.
Then he was called into the service where he spent two years. We didn't write to each other while he was gone. When he came back from over seas we again met at dances but didn't get interested in each other till the summer of 22.
We went to St. John's to get our marriage license, then picked my mother up in Eager and started home. We were to be married at two o'clock, but fate had it otherwise, our old Model T, acted uo dreadfully. Ace would get out and work on it and we would start off, when bang, it refused to go till he worked on it again.
As we came over the divide we met Bishop John Jepson and my brother-in-law Oscar (Osk) Jepson coming to find us. The wedding party had grown tired of waiting as it was then four o'clock. We tried to get the Bishop to marry us under the pines, but he refused, saying those waiting for the occasion would mob him. We made it home real soon after that as we had a down hill run. We found a very perturbed crowd. Ruth and Arvilla helped me get into my wedding apparel and Brother Jepson proceded to join us together as man and wife.
After refreshments, we changed our clothes and hurried down to Luna where we gave a dance. The old Ford ran like a Cadalac when it found it couldn't stop the marriage. We danced until 3 o'clock in the morning."
